03:38 pm - Foosball In Winter
Foosball: score is tied, nine to nine.
We're somehow heading into sudden death,
which seems miraculous indeed, as I was just behind
by four points, shuddering against your comfortable lead.
Yet, I'm a lady, and a swing dancer,
and I've learned to follow,
matching techniques and achieving the same outcome.

I take a breath as you drop the ball,
steadying and assuring myself of my outstanding capabilities,
already determined to win.
The ball rolls past my midfielders
and your offense has a chance.
"Not yet," I say to myself,
blocking your attempt and sending the ball
to my end of the field.
I'm offered a shot, and- with certainty- flick my wrist.
Your goalie is useless.
Triumph is established.
I throw my hands up in the air,
and you offer a hug, as proud of my victory as I am,
with a twinge of amazement and an air of surprise.

Now that it's winter, I recognize
that we can't play many games, as it's so cold
our fingers protest by acting inadequately.
I am forced to find fascination in short exercise,
and be enthralled by the duration of elation that ensues.

Has anyone tried rain boots in the snow? Will it even keep the feet warm? I found out the hard way my boots aren't water proof so I'm considering a pair of rain boots. If they are made lined with fur or some other fuzzy material , that would be even better!

i need help!!

i am almost 21 and i am breaking out soo bad. for the last year i always break out on my chin and around my jawline and occasionally 1 or 2 pimples on my neck. this summer i thought it was just cause i was sweating alot or whatever and in the winter i would have a clear face because i usally do but its just as bad as it was this summer.

i have had pimples on and off since i was in middle school, but not severe acne or anything but still idk why i still have thissss.

i get a few obvious pimples and then alot of little bumps. from a distance i dont think you could tell but upclose if i have no make up on its embarrasing.

i am on a budget, i need to buy a fash wash or mask or something under 15 bucks..
i have used proactive, i recently am using the clean and clear advantage (i think its called that), i used noxema, neutrogena stuff...i dont know what else to try.

any advice would be greattt!!

12:42 am - Face products
Hey all. I've been looking into these products below and was wondering if anyone has has tried out any of these products. I'm always hesitant to spend money on face products without hearing reviews first. If you've had any great/bad results with other Olay products, I'd be interested in that as well. Thanks! :)

I got a curling iron for christmas and i've been playing with it for a few days but i'm really having a problem with it. My best friend is a stylist and he told me that when i take a piece to curl, before i wrap it i should spray it with with hair spray and wait for it to dry, then wrap. But i find that it's a) not curling right and b) it's really stiff from the hair spray. I've watched some youtube vids and i still can't get the hang out it Does anyone here have any advice/suggestions on what i can do. I want really loose curls that last throughout the day.

Thanks lovelies.

03:14 pm - MAC Experience
I went to a MAC counter a few days ago to get color-matched for a foundation. Well, the lady who did my make-up had a really hard time finding the right color. I'm black with a light-complexion and yellow/golden undertones but I do have some very annoying red spots. And my face is darker than my neck and chest. When she found a color that matched my face (I think it was Studio Tech), it still looked awful because my neck didn't match. She finally resorted to a powder (Studio Fix NC 42) and it looked good on my face and neck, but is this a good foundation for dry skin? Or would a moisturizer and primer help? And are there other formulas that would match my face and neck? I'm thinking that maybe they just don't carry everything that a store would. Also, what are some other MAC products you suggest for an everyday look? Or products I can order from Sephora.com?

Thanks in advance! :)

04:07 pm - my wig
So I posted here a couple of weeks ago about how I was upset about my hair.

Well, I got the wig today and holy hell do I love it.

My mom said I look like Little Red Riding Hood, and my sis says I look like Ariel from The Little Mermaid, which is fine by me because she has amazing hair :P

Someone said I should post pictures of it when it came, so here goes.

only two, but still )

So, it's a little shiny, but other than that, it's PERFECT. And it's so soft and it moves with me. I couldn't ask for anything better. I think I look fantabulous in it too :)

What would you guys suggest in the way of like a cheap brow gel? I use Anastasia and I like it a lot but sometimes
my brows get screwed up throughout the day and I want something cheaper to take with me. I'm thinking like a clear mascara from a drugstore brand, can anyone recommend one? My
main thing is that I don't want it to turn white when it dries.

02:12 am - Lady Gaga look
Do you girls have an idea of a lipstick color similar to Lady Gaga's in the Poker Face video when she's had silver eyemake up and the false lashes?

It's like a pale, semi sheer looking coral/orange/pink. It's gorgeous.

Let me know if you can! Thanks!

12:16 am - Have to recommend this product!
I've been switching back and forth between humid and tropical weather and wintery blasts of severe cold, and my skin's been all upset, went for one facial, my first facial ever, and the great (and expensive) result of that only lasted about a week. Then my pores got more noticeable, probably with age before other things, and I found a product that cleared me up, reduced blackheads and shrank my pores..

I love it. And it was less than USD$6. Twice a week, less than 5 minutes, dries my skin a little bit but nothing added moisturizer couldn't fix, for the wonderful things it's done for my skin.. I had to post about this!

05:43 am - Thorough skin cleanser for hard water??
HELP!  My skin is heading towards a disaster right now.

I just moved back to Europe (Germany to be exact) after spending a lovely time on the West coast of Canada, where the water is soft, trickling down from the glaciers.

Now that I am back where there is only water from the ground, hence ridiculously calcified, I literally get GUNKS on my skin even when I use a cleanser thoroughly in the evening.  I am currently using a common store-brand (Garner).

I am wondering if you have any experience with hard water and if there is a particular brand that you use to remove make up (I use mineral make up) and that cleans your skin thoroughly?

I would prefer something that can be found easily, but I am willing ot go that extra mile because I am so desperate.

Thank you thank yoU!!!

So I was browsing tiffany.com and I love the bow pendant necklace. I'm just indecisive about whether I want the mini or medium size (which refers to the size of the bow, chain size is the same). But there are no measurements to know the actual difference of the sizes or a pic of the necklace on someone's neck so I couldn't get a visual of what it would look like. Does anyone happen to know the different sizes of the bows?

09:41 pm - Western-Style Boots
I've been on the lookout for some Western style boots (dark brown or black) without a huge heel, maybe a little unisex looking. (I'm disabled, so heels are out, but I can handle the sort of heel on an average riding boot.) Something like this:

I've seen these but I don't know if they're decent, as they're polyurethane, but there's definitely within my price range. (The men's boots I've seen are very expensive for walking boots to use in the slush and mud and snow.)

05:17 pm - Does this make sense?
I have curly hair and during the cold months I like to keep my hair straight. I usually get it done at a salon every 10 days or so! Anyway, here is my question:

Is it a waste of time to ask the stylist to blow dry my hair completely straight before flat ironing it?

Im asking b/c I feel like my hair looks better that way.

When I get my hair just blow dryed and brushed so it's dry (meaning: my hair is dry and ready to start with the flat iron, but it's still wavy/wild looking) and then it's flat ironed straight...it doesn't look as good.

Does that make sense? Do people just ask for their hair to be blow dried straight without flat irons anymore? What do you suggest? Thanks!

05:37 pm - Yellow Hair... D:
(x-posted to MadRadHair)

So I've been wanting to go blonde, and today... I did it! Went to a nice salon, got a full set of highlights (gonna repeat the process a couple more times until my hair is completely blonde), but I mistakenly decided on a "golden blonde," which turned out way too yellow, against my skin tone.

Not only that, but because they're highlights, I still have brown hair peeking out through the yellow. D:

In a fit of panic, I went to Lush and bought purple shampoo and the Marilyn hair treatment, hoping maybe, SOMEHOW, it will un-tone my hair, and make it more ashy. Is this possible? The Marilyn stuff is supposed to lighten hair/blondify/keep things from being brassy.

Is the toner that stylists use permanent? (Yeeeah, I'm clueless. lol)

What can I do, to fix this? : (

ETA: Thanks everyone!! I used a platinum blonde blue-violet toner and 20 vol developer, plus a ton of purple shampoo from LUSH. My highlights look MUCH better -- a pretty, pale blonde. :D
